Samsung announced Wednesday it has begun mass production of
chips using its 3nm process
node its most advanced and fastest chip production technology yet.

New chips shrink surface while boosting performance. The
South Korean tech giant Samsung said in a statement. The processor was
previously expected to arrive in 2021 but was delayed until this year. The
next-generation 3nm chips
are built on Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology, which will eventually allow area
reduction of up to 35 per cent while providing 30 per cent higher performance
and 50 per cent lower power consumption compared with the 5nm process.

The Samsung showcased its 3nm chips to US President Joe Biden in May when
he visited Samsung's Pyeongtaek complex.
Samsung, the world's largest memory chipmaker has said
its 2nm process node was in the early stages of
development, with mass production planned for 2025.
